Lesson Objectives

  • Add detail to the house style of your website
  • Gather components for your website

Starter

Vist 3 different websites and write down
How big the font is for
  • Heading
  • Text
  • Links
What is the style of font for these? (serif, sans-serif)

Activity

In a blank document try out the fonts below (these are the ones usually used for websites)
  • Impact
  • Tahoma
  • Century Gothic
  • Lucinda Sans
  • Arial
  • Times New Roman
  • Verdana
  • Trebuchet
  • Gill Sans
  • Georgia
  • Courier New
Try them in size 10/12 and make a decision on what font and size to use for text.

Task

Go back to page 1 of your coursework document. Revisit the House Style section and start adding detail of the font, size & colour you will use for text. Do the same for your headings and titles.

Task

Start gathering components for use in your website. You CANNOT copy and paste an image or video when you are doing web design, when you return in the next lesson it will be GONE.

Save all of the images etc you will use in your site to a new folder. Call it Unit 2 website.

Plenary

Make a list of any other components you will need for your website. Think about the things you need to create like a banner, buttons etc
